Communications
The Centre provides a high level of flexibility in communications. Tenants can access telephone and Internet services either through the Centre’s own networks, via the University of Sussex (for companies linked to academic groups), or through third party suppliers. All offices are fitted out with a cat-5 internal network for data and voice communications. The network is routed through a patch panel that enables flexibility of network port allocation.
A modern ISDN digital phone system is provided throughout the Centre. The Centre Management can allocate new phone lines at very short notice and provide itemised phone billing and other services. Tenants can select their calls to be transferred to the Centre’s switchboard where calls will be answered (usually in the company’s own name) and messages taken. Companies may choose to be on the University of Sussex phone system or can even have a separate third party phone line (however, the Centre cannot provide switchboard services for external phone networks).
The Innovation Centre understands the communications requirements of new high growth companies and provides a range of internet services designed to help companies utilise the power of the web to expand their business. The Centre maintains a high bandwidth fixed line internet connection with a major supplier.
-
Tenant companies can take advantage of the Centre’s own free access (no dial up) email and browsing service for £240 per annum.
-
For tenants wishing to host their own services, access to shared bandwidth is provided from £60 per month.
-
A full range of dedicated bandwidth can also be provided through the Centre at competitive prices and no installation costs.
-
For companies with strong academic links access can be provided to the Super Janet network via the University. Companies may also choose to connect via a third party supplier for fixed line, ISDN and dial-up accounts.
