Finance South East and Alchemists
The Sussex Innovation Centre is pleased to announce that it is working with Finance South East (www.financesoutheast.com) to launch two new schemes to assist in matching early stage technology companies with potential investors.
Sussex Innovation is committed to improving the opportunities for early stage investment and looks forward to the continued support of those who have attended previous investment events.
South East Capital Alliance (SECA)
Brings together investment opportunities and investors from across Sussex and Surrey to create a more effective business angel investment forum in the area. SECA is being managed by Finance South East on behalf of the Sussex Innovation Centre, Sussex Enterprise and Surrey Business Link, investment presentations will be run every three months. Other meetings and events will be announced throughout the year.

The Alchemists – Sussex and Kent
The Sussex Innovation Centre is pleased to be working with Finance South East plus university and incubator partners across Sussex and Kent to launch this initiative. The Alchemists consists of an exclusive club of experienced investors focussed on stimulating the growth of technology and knowledge based businesses. Members will be offered exclusive opportunities to mentor and invest in new enterprises with real growth potential.
The Alchemists were launched in October 2004, details of further meetings will be announced in due course.
Mike Herd, Executive Director of the Centre, firmly believes that with SECA and the Alchemists, the Sussex Innovation Centre will be able to offer both it’s companies and potential investors better opportunities. The Alchemists will focus on very early stage companies, often spin-outs from the local universities, where experienced mentoring is often an important precursor to investment . SECA provides a more traditional business angel investment forum.
There are still many opportunities from experienced business people and investors to directly participate in the Sussex Innovation Centre, but he believes that through managing potential investment discussions through Finance South East we can offer a more independent and professional service.
