The Exemplar Awards
The Sussex Innovation Centre (SInC) was one of only two incubators to receive recognition in the UK Business Incubation (UKBI) National Business Incubation Exemplar Awards 2004 at the UKBI Annual Conference in Cardiff.
The Exemplar Awards recognise exceptional performance in key areas of the incubation environment. These include industry and support networks, assistance with access to markets and finance and mentoring networks.
Each contender was required to submit information on its performance in three of these areas, the judges then interviewed shortlisted candidates. SInC’s application focused on the Centre’s innovative New Product Network model, which aims to introduce new product innovations to potential customers, its financial planning service and, finally, the location and first-rate facilities offered by the centre itself.
Mike Herd, Executive Director of SInC, states: “Our mission is to ensure that every company based here receives the level of service and advice needed to achieve success. The judges’ feedback shows that this can-do attitude was a key factor in us receiving this award.”
