The patented Digital Stadium technology invented at the University of Sussex has become the basis for TribeHive, a new spin-out company offering development and integration of mobile apps designed to be accessed in the midst of large crowds.

In January, TribeHive was one of eight academic projects nationwide selected by the Royal Academy of Engineering to receive an £85,000 grant as part of its Enterprise Fellowship, enabling further development of commercial opportunities around the technology.

Media interest has been high in the months since, with profiles of the company appearing in The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph, The Times, Wired magazine and Mobile Europe, among other titles.

Founder Dr Ian Wakeman recently appeared on BBC South East Today to discuss his innovation – you can watch the video here.
